INVESTMENT FOR SCOTLAND’S NEXT INNOVATORS

Gabriel Investment Syndicate bridges the gap for ambitious early-stage companies. We focus on pre-seed opportunities where specialist knowledge or patentable technology provides a distinct competitive edge.

We partner with Scottish-based founders who are ready to scale.

As we invest alongside Scottish Enterprise, we can only support businesses operating in sectors aligned to its investment strategy.

Our members prefer to invest in companies raising around £150k equity, ideally alongside other funding sources such as grants or loans, and valued at less than £1.5m.

They will also consider investing alongside other early stage investors, where the company is raising a larger round on a valuation of up to £3m.  To apply on this basis, you should have lead investor discussions well progressed and be looking to complete your funding round.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Please complete our eligibility information, to tell us more about your company, the founder(s) and the investment opportunity.

If your business aligns with our investors’ interests, we’ll then invite you to complete our full online application.

If shortlisted, you’ll join a small group of our investors for an introductory call. This is a chance to discuss your plans in a more informal setting. If the group sees potential for a syndicate-wide deal, you’ll be invited to pitch to the full membership.

YOUR APPLICATION

Four engineers wearing safety glasses examine a large industrial turbine inside a factory or workshop.

Before the pitch, our team will work with you to ensure you’re ready to present to our investors and give you the best chance of success.

On the pitch day, you’ll have 10 minutes to present your idea. There will be a further 20 minutes for investors to ask you questions.  Meetings can be in person or online, depending on our calendar, and we can be flexible to accommodate any preferences or adjustments needed.

Our gatekeeper will share the feedback from the investors following the pitch meeting.  If you’re successful in securing an offer, we’ll work to issue a term sheet at the earliest opportunity.

THE PITCH

The investment timescales depend on who is leading the round and if there are any factors which make it challenging to follow our normal structure and process.  We will work with you to manage the process and tie in with any other funding applications you’re completing, such as grants.

Following the investment, Gabriel provides support through our team, an investor mentor or director and appropriate introductions to our network.  We aim to help your business achieve its key early commercialisation targets and be ready to raise a next stage investment in 9-12 months.

NEXT STEPS

Partnering with Gabriel means more than just securing capital; it means gaining a committed long-term ally in the Scottish startup ecosystem. By combining the financial strength of a sophisticated syndicate with the strategic backing of Scottish Enterprise, we provide a robust foundation for pre-seed ventures to scale. Beyond investment, founders benefit from access to a wealth of industry experience, director-level mentorship, and a network specifically curated to help you hit key commercial milestones and prepare for your next funding round.
